Preparing for a 4-Day Trip to Lanzarote

Traveling to Lanzarote on a Budget

Everyone wants to travel to Lanzarote without breaking the bank, so here are a couple of tips to help you save money and stick to your budget:

  • Avoid peak season: Most tourists visit in July, August, and around Christmas, which means higher prices and larger crowds. Traveling during the off-season will save you money and give you a more relaxed experience.
  • Book flights in advance: To find cheap flights to Lanzarote, I recommend checking Kiwi, where you can usually find great deals.

Where to Stay in Lanzarote

Lanzarote is a small island, so you can stay anywhere as long as you rent a car. Here are some great accommodation options:

  • Arrecife: Central location, with plenty of services and good prices.
  • Playa Blanca: Perfect for tranquility and beautiful beaches.
  • Costa Teguise: Great for excursions and exploring the island.

I personally stayed in an apartment in Arrecife, which had many services nearby and was budget-friendly.

How to Get Around Lanzarote

I highly recommend renting a car to explore the island at your own pace.

Where to Rent a Car in Lanzarote?

To find affordable rental cars, I used DiscoverCars, which offers plenty of options at fair prices, with clear terms and reasonable deposits.

Fuel is cheaper in Lanzarote than on the mainland because the Canary Islands pay IGIC (7%) instead of VAT (21%).

Flying a Drone in Lanzarote

If you’re thinking about bringing your drone to Lanzarote, keep in mind that many areas have flight restrictions, especially near airports.

Drones are strictly prohibited in Timanfaya National Park.

To fly in restricted areas, you need to contact the Cabildo of Lanzarote for permission.
