Madeira and Dolomites, Dolomites and Madeira. These two places are two of the best travel destinations in 2024. These options combine natural beauty, rich culture and outdoor activities, thus promising unforgettable adventures and moments of relaxation in stunning environments.

The best travel destinations in 2024: Madeira, a paradise in Europe

Furthermore, the incredible thing about this place is that it perfectly combines nature and the outdoors with relaxation and gastronomy.
Nature and outdoor activities
If you like nature and outdoor activities, Madeira is undoubtedly one of the best travel destinations in 2024. This island combines impressive hiking trails with paradisiacal black sand beaches where you can relax and enjoy a swim in the Atlantic.
If you are like me who loves hiking, in Madeira you have routes where you can see a sea of clouds or enjoy incredible waterfalls. As a personal recommendation, my favorite hikes were PR6 (Levada de 25 Fuentes), PR9 (Levada do Caldeirao Verde), PR1 (Pico del Arieiro – Pico Ruivo) and Fanal Forest.
You cannot leave this island without doing these routes that I have mentioned, they are truly incredible. And if you go with enough time, I recommend taking it easy and enjoying the natural variety that this place has.
Culture and gastronomy
If on the other hand you come to Madeira to look for relaxation and tranquility, it is also a great place for that. Funchal, the capital, is the cultural heart of Madeira. Stroll through its old town, visit the Mercado dos Lavradores and try local products. If you go in February you can enjoy the Madeira Carnival, with its colorful parades and popular music. If you go in September you can also enjoy the Wine Festival.
I also recommend going to local restaurants and trying their typical dishes. My favorites were undoubtedly the Bolo do Caco (traditional bread made of wheat flour, sweet potato and garlic butter) and the Queijada (cake made of fresh cheese, sugar and egg).
The best travel destinations in 2024: Dolomites, movie landscapes in northern Italy
If you ask me about the best travel destinations in 2024, the Dolomites cannot be missing. I visited them months ago and I really want to return and enjoy their movie-like landscapes and steep mountains again.
To put you in context, the Dolomites are a set of mountain ranges located in the eastern Italian Alps. So, if you like hiking, nature and the outdoors, you will fall in love with this place.
3 incredible places in Dolomites
The best thing about Dolomites is that are not just mountains. If I put it among the best destinations to travel in 2024 it is because it has everything; Incredible lakes, mountains, routes… here are the 3 places that I liked the most:
Tre Cime Di Lavaredo
Tre Cime di Lavaredo or the Tre Cime Di Lavaredo are the symbol of the Dolomites and probably the most iconic place of this destination. Personally, this place was the most amazing on our trip through the Dolomites.
The route to the three peaks has incredible views of the mountain ranges in the area and, without a doubt, it is worth reaching the final refuge. It is important that you keep in mind that it is probably the most famous place in the area and that it is usually very crowded, so if you can get up early, the better.
Lago Di Braies
Lago di Braies is the most famous lake in Dolimites and is a true natural treasure. It is located in the Trentino-Alto Adige region and is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the entire country. This lake offers a multitude of options to spend the day. We can take hiking routes to the top of the mountain or relax by the lake.
It is also usually very busy, so I recommend going early. For example, we wake up at 5:00 a.m. to go quickly.
Lago Di Carezza
Lago Di Carezza was a real surprise on our trip through the Dolomites. They call it the rainbow lake because its colors and its reflection with the mountains create a magical and serene atmosphere. Without a doubt, just because of this lake, the Dolomites are among the best destinations to travel to in 2024. Especially if you like nature and the outdoors.
